- Day Trip Information From Phuket and Khao Lak
For a day of coral reefs, white-sand beaches and granite island scenery, choose the Similan Islands. The current Similan snorkelling day trip combines two guided reef sessions with visits to Islands No. 4 and No. 8, including the option to climb the Sailing Rock viewpoint.

Look for reef fish among the coral and keep an eye out for sea turtles. Visibility and wildlife vary from day to day, so enjoy what the reef reveals without expecting a particular animal or a fixed visibility distance. If you are planning around larger marine life, read our whale shark guide; sightings are never guaranteed.
The national park’s normal visiting season is 15 October to 15 May, subject to its current opening notices and sea conditions. Phuket and Khao Lak hotel transfers are available on the linked trip. From Phuket, allow for an early hotel pickup and a full day away; check your pickup area, current price and inclusions before booking.
2. Surin Islands

Choose the Surin Islands when time over shallow reefs is your main priority. The current Surin snorkelling day trip includes three guided snorkelling sessions and a visit to the Moken village, combining reef time with an introduction to the islands’ community.

The route begins with a transfer from Phuket to Nam Khem Pier, followed by a speedboat crossing to Mu Ko Surin National Park. It is a full-day outing, with several chances to explore different reef areas. The exact bays and order of stops depend on the day’s conditions.
The Andaman dry season is the usual planning window, with November to April a useful starting point. Confirm the park opening and available dates before arranging travel. Give the reefs and wildlife space, and follow your guide’s instructions during the village visit. See the linked trip for the current schedule, transfers and booking details.
3. Phi Phi Islands
- Best Time to Visit: December to April
- Google Map Location – click here
- Day Trip Information From Phuket
Choose Phi Phi for a varied day of limestone cliffs, lagoon scenery and time in the water. Maya Bay is a scenic beach visit when the national park allows access: swimming and snorkelling in the bay are prohibited. Your tour’s permitted swimming and snorkelling stops take place elsewhere. Check the current route before booking if Maya Bay is a priority for your holiday.

Pileh Lagoon is a striking swimming and scenery stop surrounded by steep limestone walls. Snorkelling locations and time at each stop vary with the route, tide and sea conditions. The Phi Phi and Khai Islands day trip lists the planned island visits, lunch and hotel transfers. Follow the guide’s instructions and the park’s Maya Bay visitor rules, and confirm any seasonal closures for your travel date.
4. Koh Rok + Koh Haa
- Best Time to Visit: November to April
- Google Map Location – click here
- Day Trip Information From Phuket
Choose Koh Rok and Koh Haa for a day centred on reef snorkelling and white-sand island scenery. The linked trip visits both island groups, giving you a different route from the Similan, Surin and Phi Phi options above.

The current Rok + Haa snorkelling day trip plans two reef sessions around Koh Rok, beach time and lunch on Rok Nok, followed by a third snorkelling stop at Koh Haa. The crew may change the exact sites and timing to suit sea conditions.
This is a full-day speedboat trip from Laem Nga Pier, with hotel pickup from covered Phuket areas. Check available dates, your transfer area and the current inclusions on the product page. Keep your fins clear of coral, leave shells and marine life where you find them, and bring every piece of rubbish back to the boat.
Before choosing your snorkelling trip
Which trip should I choose for reef time? The current Surin and Rok + Haa trips plan three snorkelling sessions, while the Similan route combines two guided snorkels with two island visits. Phi Phi adds lagoon and limestone scenery. Choose the balance that suits your holiday, then check the full itinerary.
Can I snorkel at Maya Bay? No. Treat Maya Bay as a beach and scenery visit when access is open. The crew will explain where swimming and snorkelling are permitted elsewhere on your Phi Phi route.
What should I check before booking? Check your travel date, pickup area, park opening, number of planned snorkel stops and included equipment. Tell us your swimming confidence and any children’s ages so we can help you choose a suitable trip.
