The Similan Islands are the most beautiful group of dive sites we have in Thailand and are one of the best areas for diving in the entire world.
The crystal clear Andaman Sea surrounding the Similan Islands is well known for crystal clear waters and 40 meter plus viability is normal here. Located about one hundred kilometres North-West of Phuket, are composed of nine granite islands washed by a clear blue tropical ocean and blessed with some of the world’s greatest diving and finest beaches.
No matter where you stay in Phuket / Koh Lak we organise return hotel transfers for you by air-conditioned minivan. The minivan journey from Phuket takes around 2 hours to get to Koh Lak where a speedboat awaits to whisk you to the Similan liveaboard in around one and a half hours. Once you get to the Similan Islands you will join the liveaboard boat that is permanently there for the season. Your rental scuba diving gear and your dive guide will be onboard the Similan day trip liveaboard waiting for you to go on your first dive of the day around 10.30 am.
When you are back from your first dive and discussing what you encountered there will be a freshly cooked buffet-style lunch served. After lunch and a bit of relaxing time, it is onto the second dive site around 1.30 pm. Once you are back from your second dive and everyone is ready to make the journey back to the mainland – the speedboat leaves the Similan liveaboard around 3.00 pm and arrives back in Thap Lamu pier at 4.30 pm where the minivan will be waiting to get you back to your hotel at around 6.30 pm. As you can see this is a long day but totally worth it.
We expect no issues but in the unlikely event of injury, it only makes sense to be prepared. Check your current travel insurance covers you for scuba diving activities. Be sure to contact them directly to make sure. If they do not then we recommend DAN Scuba Diving Insurance.
