PADI Advanced Open Water

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certification, qualifies you to dive deeper than you have ever been before to a maximum depth of 30 meters! It also improves your navigation and buoyancy skills by completing 5 adventure dives.

Trip Schedule

  • 07.30am - 5.00pm

09:00  We come and collect you from your hotel or you can meet us at the scuba diving centre.

09:15  Classroom session:  You learn the theory necessary for your safety and comfort using the PADI Open Water Diver manual and relevant DVD’s.

12.00 Lunch break.

13:00  Now for the FUN PART: 
You will put into practice what you leant in the morning in the swimming pool. You will experience your first breath underwater in a safe depth – that you can stand up if you feel like it.
By the end of the day you will have mastered breathing and swimming underwater  all ready for the amazing coral reef dives the next day at Koh Racha Yai Island.

17:00  We transfer you back to your hotel.

07:30  Pick up from your hotel and transferred to the day trip boat where you will meet your scuba diving instructor.

08:30 Depart from Phuket Island on the day trip boat to Koh Racha Yai Island.

09:00 Breakfast followed by setting up your scuba equipment.

09:30 Briefing from your instructor about the skills you will be practicing, hand signals and basic information about the dive site.

10:30 Arrive at Koh Racha Yai Island and the first dive site. Be ready to be amazed in what you are going to see under the ocean. 

10.45 The first coral reef dive of the day whilst doing some underwater diving exercises with your diving instructor. The tropical water is on average 80 degrees – just like diving in a bath.

11:30 A freshly prepared lunch will be ready for you after the dive where you can talk over your experiences with the others in your group and your diving instructor. Please tell us if you would like a vegetarian, vegan or halal meal.

12:30 We go for the second coral reef training dive of the day. On an average a dive lasts for 30 minutes.

15:00 Start heading back to Phuket Island and debrief with your instructor about your experience and preparation for the final day.

16:00 Arrival back at Phuket and transfer back to your hotel

The same itinerary as day two.

08:30 Depart from Phuket Island on the day trip boat to Koh Racha Yai Island.

09:00 Breakfast followed by setting up your scuba equipment.

09:30 Briefing from your instructor.

10:30 Arrive at Koh Racha Yai Island for the third dive of the PADI open water course

11:30 A freshly prepared lunch will be ready for you after the dive.

12.30 Time for the fourth and final dive of the PADI open water course. Over the first three dives you will have covered all the safety and underwater communication skills needed to scuba diving safely in the future. So this dive is just a fun dive with no training just enjoying the truly amazing tropical coral reefs that surround Koh Racha Yai island.

15:00 Start heading back to Phuket Island – Congratulations you will now be a certified PADI open water diver. So you will be fully trained to scuba dive safely anywhere in the world for the rest of your life.

16:00 Arrival back at Phuket and transfer back to your hotel

Frequently Asked Questions

This really depends on how fast you breathe the air from the tank but normally it is around 30 minutes per dive.

You will do 2 coral reef dives during the discover scuba diving day trip.

In the Andaman Sea, water temperatures are usually very warm, ranging from 79 to 84 degrees throughout the year – so we wear a thin 3mm shorty wetsuit on dives.

The minimum age is 10 years old to go scuba diving.

Yes – If you want a one on one discover scuba diving experience or you would like to dive with just your group we can organise a Private day trip and this is an additional 

This does not happen very often but if you do not enjoy the discover scuba diving then we have snorkeling equipment for you to use onboard or you could just relax onboard and top up your tan.

No. There is no need to be able to swim to go scuba diving. You only need to be able to swim to complete the PADI Open Water Diver course.

The maximum depth your professional scuba diving instructor will take you to is 12 meters on the discover scuba diving trip. The coral reefs surrounding Koh Rach Yai are perfect as the coral reefs start around 5 meters and go down to 12 meters.

The Professional Association of Diving Instructors’ (PADI) Flying After Diving guidelines say divers should not ascend to a high altitude within 12 hours of completing a single dive or 18 hours after doing multiple dives so as long as you are not flying before 9am the next day everything will be fine.

Your PADI professional will be with you for the entire process and it starts with a little theory on the day trip boat when you are sailing to Koh Racha Yai Island. You will be taught about the body, more specifically what happens to the body when you go underwater, how to communicate via hand signals and how to name and use the equipment that you will be using. Its informative and fun!

The PADI Discover Scuba Diving can be credited towards the PADI Open Water Diver Course. You can now complete your PADI Open Water diver course in just just two  days and will give you a certification that will last a life time. It will allow you to dive to a maximum depth of 18 meters, dive without an instructor and allows you to rent equipment from your local PADI center and go and explore the underwater world!
