Diving in the dark of night is exciting thrilling and Unexpectantly calming, Kata reef is the perfect dive site to conduct one as the reef is shallow with few currents and flat. The marine world has changed since the daytime the parrotfish have woven their nests for sleep inside the corals and the nocturnal life has woken. Fish such as giant morays barracuda and lionfish begin their hunt for food sometimes working in symbiosis with yourself the diver and your flashlight.
Crustaceans like painted spiny lobsters, hermit crabs anemone shrimps and peacock mantas become easy to spot as their eyes become bright orange in the beam of your torch, Bioluminescence glows in the water once you switch the light off like the stars in the sky on a clear night. Night diving is available from October until May as during the monsoon season the winds change direction and conditions make it no longer possible
